The Madad is a research and journalism initiative with a dual mission: to collect and analyze data on politics, society, and identity in Israel — and to share new insights and emerging trends with the public.
Combining quantitative research, statistical analysis, and journalistic writing, The Madad produces reports that help make sense of the complex social and political developments shaping Israel today.
The Madad website hosts tools for survey collection and data analysis, along with in-depth commentary and accessible explanations of findings — all aimed at fostering a clearer understanding of Israeli society.
The Madad conducts independent research as well as commissioned projects for various institutions and organizations. Among its key projects is the Monthly Israeli Society Index, produced for the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI). In addition, The Madad conducts surveys and opinion research for civil society organizations, educational institutions, museums, philanthropic foundations, and others. (The Madad does not conduct surveys for political parties or candidates.)
The Madad was founded by Prof. Camil Fuchs, Shmuel Rosner, and Noah Slepkov. Before launching The Madad, the three collaborated on the research project #IsraeliJudaism, which presented a new model for understanding Jewish society in Israel (for details, click here). As part of that project, Rosner and Fuchs published the book #IsraeliJudaism: Portrait of a Cultural Revolution — widely read in Israel and the United States, and available in English translation. Today, Rosner and Slepkov are the owners of The Madad.

Shmuel Rosner, Editor of The Madad, is a Senior Fellow at the Jewish People Policy Institute, a commentator for KAN News, the political editor of the Jewish-American weekly The Los Angeles Jewish Journal, a columnist for Maariv, and the founder of the project The Hedgehog and the Fox: Books and Ideas for the Curious.
